The latin word for olive, oleum, consists of two notions: the Cretan word "elaeva" which means olive and the semitic "ulu".

In spanish language the term "aceite" derives from the arab word for olive, al zaytun. "Oliva" in spanish language means only the olive tree, not the olive itself.

Our products are certified according to AGRO 2.1 & 2.2, with certification id 229. The certification model AGRO 2.1 & 2.2 is the national model of agricultural products management with conditions that respect the environment and the quality of the products, taking into account the legal requirements, the valid specifications for the agricultural products, along with the information on the environmental consequences. The company MetronCert, which is the provider of the certification, is resident of the National System of Standards.

Agricultural Products Certification and Supervision Organization, under the distinctive title AGROCERT is a Private Law Legal Entity operating for the public benefit under the supervision of the Ministry of Rural Development and Food (L. 2637/98). 

It is an established body responsible for the implementation of national policy on quality in agriculture.

The main competences of AGROCERT are as follows:

  • Certification of agricultural production systems
  • Certification of agricultural products
  • Evaluation, approval and supervision of Control and Certification private bodies, accredited by the National Accreditation System.
  • Preparation and publication of optional sectoral standards and development of specifications towards quality assurance of agricultural products.
